Our two-day AR-15 Rifle Level II Course expounds on what you learned in Level I and incorporates what some people would consider the “high speed, low drag” stuff.

Our top-rated, professional cadre of instructors will provide you instruction and training in this course on:

  • How to equip your rifle for the task at hand.
  • Various methods of deployment including: Sul, Low ready and High ready.
  • Primary to Secondary weapon transitions and multiple target engagement and target transitions.
  • Failure drills and alternate target areas.
  • 180 degree turns with a long gun.
  • Bilateral Shooting (strong and support side shooting).
  • Shooting from multiple positions including: Standing; Prone; Modified prone, Roll-over prone, Scuba prone, High kneeling, and Low kneeling.
  • Malfunction Clearances while under stress.
  • Barricade shooting and adverse angles.

  • How to operate, load, reload and clear malfunctions using only one hand.
  • How to account for mechanical offset at various distances.
  • Engaging targets while on the move: forward, rearward, diagonally and laterally.
  • Team tactics exercises and how to incorporate communication into your skill set.
  • Stress drills designed to make you think and operate the rifle reflexively and instinctively.
  • Various types of reloads including: lock-back or emergency reloads, speed reloads, tactical reloads and reloads with retention.
  • Proper use of slings and other equipment.
  • How to shoot from various barricaded positions using proper cover and concealment.
  • Angles of attack and aggressing the threat.

PREREQUISITES

As noted above, this course is advanced and you must have trained with DSA™ in AR-15 Rifle Level I to qualify for admission.

    • Successful completion of this course may make you eligible for participation in specialty advanced DSA™ courses subject to Owner approval.
    • Ability to pass a criminal background check is required for admission into all DSA™ courses.

REQUIRED EQUIPMENT

REQUIRED NOTE
A good rifle. Optics are optional.
Four magazines with a way to carry them. Whatever you've got to hold a couple of mags: pouches, back pockets, tactical vest, chest harness, SWAT rig etc.
1,000 rounds of rifle ammunition. Due to the fact that we shoot steel targets in the AR-15 courses we do not allow SS109 or any other steel core ammunition on the range.
Protective gear. A shooting mat and knee pads. Elbow pads are optional.
Rifle Sling. Single point, two point, tactical or whatever works for you.
ANSI approved and ballistic rated eye and ear protection (electronic headphones preferably). Your eye protection should be chosen very carefully. We shoot steel in our classes so make sure they are ANSI approved and ballistic rated. Clear lenses are a must for night fire portion of this course.
A lawn chair is a must have. If you are flying in, we’ll be happy to provide you with one. We have a few extras.

RECOMMENDATIONS

RECOMMENDED NOTE
Lunch money or a bagged lunch both days. Snacks to keep your energy up. There is no restaurant on site so we will have to leave the facility for lunch. Water will be provided all day every day.
Dress appropriately for the weather and the activity. We recommend long pants but you can wear shorts if you want. A baseball hat is advisable. Wear comfortable shoes that will allow you traction on surfaces ranging from grass to concrete.
Cleaning equipment for your weapon. We recommend a backup gun if you are shooting a 1911.
Bring a towel for your hands, band-aids or waterproof, flexible tape. Co-ban or Vet-wrap works nicely. Sunscreen is advisable if you burn easily.
Cash for ammo, t-shirts, hats, holsters, mag pouches and other gear. We will do our best to accommodate your needs and have taken the liberty to purchase a few items you might find beneficial for your training experience. We can take credit cards on the range but we prefer cash.
Pen/Pencil and Paper for note taking. We will be sharing tons of information with you and recommend you take notes.

We strongly recommend that L.E.O.’s train in your duty gear if applicable.
